Im looking for bass strings that will give me a real warm, soft, round, tone that will compliment the blues. Any suggestions?

crojas:
You might think about a set of black nylon tape wound strings by La Bella. Part number 760N offers 60,70,97,115's. I have them on an electric fretless to get that wooly, warm upright sound and love-em. Just a thought.

Thanks for the feedback Greg...I will check them out.

Half rounds are nice, too. All the warmth of flats with a bit of punch like a full roundwound.
I have a set of D'Addario half rounds...sometimes also called groundwounds.

Agree with Elmaux..these sound great! Not to mention not grinding all your hard earned calluses off.

There are several other string types/sounds on the last page...got me thinking...something I normaly avoid :P
I have an ooolllld Gibson that if anything is to bassy...yikes, is that even possible? I had used rounds 40 years ago and while I liked the sound they lacked a round mellow sound I also liked. After a long day of practice followed by a gig they would sometimes leave me with scarey tender fingers.
Hope this helps

Could anyone kindly recommend a nickel roundwound with a bit deeper tone than the DR Sunbeam or the D'Adddario XLs? Thanks.
