New Winner - New Series

Well, it looks like Patrick's tie-breaking vote has sealed the fate
of the Spector ReBop.
Our friend Lola must now stand down, having been beaten
by the Conklin Crossover hollowbody in a squeaky-close
7-6 victory.

It seems like only yesterday that we first met Lola as she
soundly whipped the G&L Anniversary Bass.

Let's have a round of applause for our black cherry queen!
It was a magnificent reign!

:::wiffle-bats Lola off the mountain:::

Alright! On to the new contest.

Now that Conklin is at the top of the pile, the contenders
are eagerly lining up!!

First to step into the ring is a "By Request" challenger.
One of our Members thinks this bass has got what it takes!!!

What about YOU??

The first challenger for the Conklin Crown is a 33" scale
custom bass from Nordstrand.

Five strings, a beautiful ebony top, maple neck and fingerboard.
And check out those pups!! Maple covered!!!
Like gorgeous blocks of Canadian Fudge!!

And let's not forget the slick "Piano Black" finish!!!

Thunder Row is proud to present...

In the black cherry corner, the Conklin Crossover hollowbody bass!!!

And in the piano-black corner, the new "Member's Choice" challenger,
the Nordstrand SC5 bass!

Let's Get Ready To RRRRRRRRUMBLE!!!!

Have to go with the Conklin again. Just not a fan of basses with the the large attached upper-bout like the Nordstrand.

I much prefer the Nordstrand's upper bout to the Conklin's. The Nordy properly extends to the 12th fret so the instrument should balance much better, too.

The black with the wood showing around the edges makes a s-e-x-y curvy silhouette ... if there's a book of bass p0rn, this one's in it!

Contender has a lovely finish, but the large upper horn(s) always remind me of a sperm whale surfacing :(.

Gonna have to go with the reigning champ - a little less "whale like" - oh, and it's fretless :o:D

Not a fan of either of these basses but if I gotta vote I'll have to go with the Conklin.

Maple-covered pups are a nice touch on the Nordstrand, but I'll go with the Conklin this time.

Okay, you non-voters.

How's about voting for the LEAST OFFENSIVE of the two gargoyles?

The bass most unlikely to make you vomit... :p

The bass you could possibly take home if you'd had enough beer shoved down your throats in advance...

I am not sure, I love my new Jazz bass, I was in the music store yesterday and they have a custom Fender P-J bass with a P neck but with the modified C shap so it is thin. I was playing it and it felt pretty nice. It had an ACTIVE set up in it. So it had some aftermarket parts and the no pick guard look (I LIKE IT) and it is only 400 bucks.

New MESA 4X10's or a used Fender P-J bass????? hummm

If you are not sure of what a P-J bass is, it has a P bass body with the neck Pick up of a P and the bridge pick up of a J. It has some killer tone options.

If it was a giftie it would stay in the closet :p

Neck & neck going into the home stretch. Who will pull into the lead to to win this? Guess we'll find out tomorrow after someone casts the tie-breaker vote.
