Hi all,

Last Tuesday I got a call from my Music Store with the news that my new J-Bass arrived.

This morning I went to them to pick it up, and as promised here are some pics :

We're all properly envious!

Not until he peels off the plastic film from the pick guard.

Until then, I'm just freaking out with OCDs.

Envy comes when that film is off.

LOL, It's removed now (I realized that when I was doing my warm-up)
I was wondering if the "Sticker" was not going to leave some glue residue on the bass and then I realized it was on the film. Let's say a bit over enthusiastic after getting home from the store.

Well I like the sound better than the GSR200 but I guess that's obvious.

I have the feeling that the "Bright" option of the bass sounds a lot better with the Fender than with the Ibanez (I never liked bright with the Ibanez, but with the fender it gives a sharper sound that sounds pretty good. Still prefer this to be off in general).

The "Shape" option on the bass sounds as bad with the Fender as with the Ibanez (I don't know how to explain the sound but it just doesn't sound right).

Now for the 3 pots on the bass itself.

- Tone : I prefer this to be set to maximum (again, dialing it back has a similar response as the "Shape" option on the Amp).

- Bridge-PU (only) : sounds pretty good
- Neck-PU (only) : doesn't sound right to me (but that's personal).
- Bridge & Neck PU's : (both at max) : my prefered setting (same for the Ibanez, but this sounds way better).

So overall I'm very satisfied with the bass and it's sound, and note that the Amp is "just" an Ibanez SWX 35 (35WATT) Combo (practive Amp) so I can only imagine how big the difference will be when connected to a more "high-end" amp. But that might be something for the future (when there is need for a more powerfull amp).

And for those who are wondering, I've replaced the original strap rings (or whatever you call them) with "gold" colored Strap-Locks, so that should prevent the strap from coming off during playing.
I doubt it would happen with the originals fender put on since they look pretty good made (better than on my Ibanez) but I already had these (bought Chrome's for the Ibanez and golden for the Fender) so I decided to put them one (I think these would look good on that Ibanez Prestige bass since that also has gold colored hardware).

Oh, and I mentioned the "HipShot D-Tuners" and the guy at the store told me that some basses came with them from the factory but he doesn't encourage customers to buy them because the could cause some problems like Intonation getting wrong and they would really work that well (at least that was his opinion on them, and I was not considering to but them anyway).

Regarding your OCD, don't you mean CDO? That's OCD with the letters correctly placed in order. :)

It's a bit smaller and lighter than the leather one I bought for my GSR but it's pretty comfortable (I might need to play longer to be completely sure).

The bass also doesn't feel like it's heavier than the Ibanez so at first glance I would say the strap and weight of the bass are very good, and I don't need to put coins (or lead) in the electronics cavity to solve a balance issue ;)

I wasn't going to be able to sleep...

Glad we prevented that :D

Well, now I'm happy I decided to wait the few weeks for the Jazz and not got the Precision when the store called to say the Jazz was not available but the Precision was.

Anyway,
WTF is OCD ?
Obnoxious Contemplating Disorder ?
