View Full Version : Skin DEEP - SHOWDOWN

As mentioned yesterday, the Peavey Scorpio (in a rather roundabout way)
defeated the Gibson Grabber II by a score of 7-6.

On to new biz!

The Italia Mondial bass is among my faves for a couple of reasons - the
most interesting of which is the sliding thumb rest that can be positioned
to suit your preferred plucking stance. Love the colour too, as well
as the wonderful body shape.

Alas, this distinctive bass did not make it out of the first round.

Across the ring is the Schecter Damien bass, which was featured in the
Bronze Medal Round of the original Skin DEEP game, but lost out to the Carvin.
This is a sinister satin black demon with bats as fret inlays.

Each of these basses could easily take the beauty crown in this round of
Skin DEEP - SHOWDOWN, but only the voters can decide who actually
gets the prize!

And remember, to cut down on complications, this round will not afford
any second chances to folks who comment but fail to cast a vote.

So let's have a look at our contenders.

The Italia Mondial bass versus the Schecter Damien Bass.

LOL. Why yes, it is.

:p

And it's beautiful. Very similar to the Airline basses.

That Schecter has a sinister, brooding look to it - not bad characteristics for a bass. ;)

Yep, it's bluetiful.

True Blue!!

Trivia: The name Mondial is pronounced MON-dee-uhl...and it means "relating to the world."

And just like the world, she's big, beautiful, and blue!!

...meanwhile, we all know about Damien.

:::jarring music chord:::

MWAHAHAHAHA!

Yeah, black over blue for me, too.

The Schecter actually reminds me of the little ESP B-10 I'm currently learning on ...

... eh, except that the Schecter is superior in every way! :D

We did a report on the ESP Viper a while back. Nice basses!

Nice little report there. I'm not so much into metal, but I have found that most of the famous folks who play ESP instruments tend toward the hard rock variety.

I like my little B-10. I'm still a complete novice, but the bass itself feels like a quality instrument, and the sound through the 15-watt practice amp is pretty good. The B-10 also has a thinner neck, excellent for beginners in the "smallish hands" crowd like myself.

Yikes, the lesser of two evils for me. The Schecter headstock just does not fit the body lines in my eye.
