Hi all, I thought I'd share some of my favorite bands from over here. I don't know if you get to hear much stuff from over here unless they make it big time. The first is The Cruel Sea and the second is The Badloves (unfortunately no longer together), let me know what you think, please share some of your lesser known favorites. I recently stumbled across the barefoot servants (Leland Sklar) first album 1994 was great.

please share some of your lesser known favorites.

I'm a sucker for anything by Leonard Cohen. I don't know if he's considered "lesser known", but sometimes when you mention his name outside of Canada, people aren't as familiar.

You might know him from his song called "Hallelujah"...

...or this one, called "The Future" (with cleaned up lyrics for this performance).

I've always thought of Cohen as "singing the bassline." His rumbling voice makes me think he's singing specifically for the bass.

Yeah have known of Leonard Cohen for quite a while, my wife refers to his stuff as music to slash your wrists by, a bit harsh I think. Hallelujah is a well known classic, Shrek certainly boosted sales for him on that one. Here's a band I grew old with, first saw them as a sixteen year old at an outdoor concert, classic Aussie pub rock band -Cold Chisel

JJ Cale has always been a favorite, and Ian Dury has some classics, Corb Lund is one I've never heard of, good stuff. Here's another of mine, they only called it quits recently, Powderfinger.

This is one are my favorite southern rock band of the past, they used to be well known ( I think ). I used to follow them around in what was called Fat City in Metairie La. around New Orleans when no body are not many even knew them. And other places I used to follow them. A friend of mine from hanging out with the group actually became a Roadie for them. Through them Johnny Winters ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Tyg5SJDpiQ ) wore something out of mine ( You bum, and I didn't get it back!! ) LOL! Just kidding Johnny!!! Also because of them, some friends of mine promoted a concert at what used to be called The Loyola Field House don't know if that's there anymore where I got to meet The Doobie Brothers and the one and only Chuck Berry!! And now that I'm thinking about it I got some bass lessons at Loyola from our one and only Roy Vogt when he was there!! Sorry about the rambling it's just that this group just brought back some fond memories from things associated with this group!! Hey!! LOL!! You asked for it! I still can boogie to this stuff!!
