Yesterday was my birthday. Jan (my spousal unit) and I made a day trip to Seattle and (among other things) visited the EMP (Experience Music Project) Museum. I saw a couple of interesting instruments on display there.
The current exhibit "Hendrix Hits London" includes Noel Redding's 66 Jazz Bass and his Sunn amp and cab - all looking well worn.
Another exhibit, "Guitar Gallery: The Quest for Volume", focused on the rise of louder (and eventually electric) guitars and some basses. The coolest thing there, I thought, was an actual Tutmarc Audiovox bass guitar from 1935. Sorry, Leo, Paul Tutmarc was there much earlier.
So, if you are in or near Seattle and haven't been to EMP recently, you might want to drop in.
