  1. The Lows and The Highs

    I Got Low

I'm on a mini-break from practicing concepts from the course in a more structured fashion. I've been playing 12 bar blues to different backing tracks. I've looked up rhythms from my drum book and tried creating basslines using the rhythms and chord tones. This was exactly what I needed to do. I was really frustrated with the course last week. All I could see from the current and upcoming lessons is just scales upon scales without much explanation of why I was learning ...

Remember when I was confused about the I IV V? I totally missed that page while reading the pdf book, LOL. I even printed out that page. Somehow I still missed the concepts it was teaching ...

  4. Movin' on Up: Lesson 2

    Lesson 1 Update:

Quick rundown on a week of lesson 1: I've gotten more comfortable with the reverse fretting (4321) of the 4x4 exercise. Plucking 8th notes on the right hand feels more relaxed and easier. The order of the notes (calling flats & sharps) are becoming easier to remember. I used to have to think really hard about what came after Gb or D sometimes. Now, not so much.

    I've arrived at Lesson ...

  5. Lesson 1 - The First Practice

I like to record myself as a way to document my progress. It's interesting to look back at a future date and to see what my playing was like when I started.
