  • Great Bass Riffs: December Edition

It's often said that nobody notices the bass until it's not there. Here are a couple of examples of indispensable bass lines that made the songs. First up, Jethro Tull's Bouree. Listen all the way through, you'll be well-rewarded.

Next, perhaps the most distinctive bass riff ever by Paul McCartney on John Lennon's Come Together (Incidentally, Paul played drums, too, on the studio version). Now - imagine if Bobby McFerrin and Robin Williams were to do a version of this classic! Imagine no longer...

Lastly, mastery of this rock riff was a requisite to call yourself a bass player. Forty years on, the test still stands. Jealous? Watch out for that Green-Eyed Lady.
