  • THUNDERNEWS: Remembering Lowell Kiesel

On this day in 2009, Lowell Kiesel, founder of Carvin Guitars, passed away at the age of 94.

Mr. Kiesel was born on a farm in Eustis, Nebraska on February 22, 1915. As a young man, he spent time in Wichita, Kansas, where he developed an interest in musical instruments; specifically, Hawaiian steel guitars, resonators and the newly-emerging electronic aspects of these instruments.

Enjoy the rest of this tribute on the Carvin Website.

Speaking for Roy, we're thankful for Lowell's passion for making instruments. Roy has a lot of basses, but chose to use his Candy-Green Carvin for much of Teach Me Bass Guitar!

I play a SB4000 and it is such a sweet bass. Mr. Kiesel built a great company.
