  • THUNDERNEWS: Peavey Unveils New Bass At NAMM

Peavey Announces New Cirrus Rudy Sarzo Signature Model Bass

NAMM report from the Peavey Website:

ANAHEIM, Calif. (NAMM Exhibit 5740, Hall B) — Peavey® is celebrating the legacy of one of rock music’s legendary musicians with the Cirrus™ Rudy Sarzo Signature Model bass guitar, a new four-string neck-through-body instrument crafted from maple, mahogany and bamboo, a sustainable, renewable resource.

The Peavey Cirrus Series combines exotic wood selections and a resonant neck-through-body design with studio-quiet active electronics to create a true artist’s bass instrument. Firmly rooted in the Cirrus legacy of finely crafted, tonally superior instruments, the Cirrus Rudy Sarzo Signature Model features chambered bamboo wings and a maple neck with mahogany stringers, graphite reinforcement and dual expanding truss rod.

Peavey VFL™ active electronics provide +/-10 dB of cut and boost, while the finger-style bridge anchors the 35” scale instrument. The rosewood fretboard even features the classic snake-eye inlays from Rudy’s original Peavey signature bass.

The bassist behind many of rock’s legendary marquee bands with 30 million records sold, Rudy Sarzo has played Peavey gear for more than 25 years, through gigs with Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dio and Blue Öyster Cult.

“When I first got my hands on the first Peavey Cirrus bass at its NAMM debut, I couldn’t let go of it,” said Sarzo. “My new signature-model Cirrus incorporates elements from my original Peavey signature bass and the Cirrus I played for so many years.”

Sarzo added, “With the growing threat of deforestation, we wanted to create my new signature bass out of sustainable woods. Bamboo is an attractive alternative to traditional woods because it grows very rapidly, but most importantly, it sounds awesome, plays great and looks beautiful. You must try it for yourself!”

The Peavey Cirrus Rudy Sarzo signature bass guitar will be available in Q1 2012 from authorized Peavey retailers. Please visit www.peavey.com/dealerlocator to find a dealer near you.
