  • Removable Walkabout

The Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout is a combo amp with a removable head. Good for practice and good for switching to a bigger cab when you need more power!

    From the Mesa Boogie Website:

The Walkabout Scout™ Convertible Bass Combo. It’s a Head. It’s a Combo. It’s BOTH. And either way, the TONE is huge! (Yet this is one petite rig.)

Start with the WalkAbout™ head: 300 watts for 13 lbs. A pure all-tube pre amp provides the tone. Tubes even drive our MOSFET power block giving WalkAbout the same great Simul-State™ performance as our bigger M-Pulse 600™. (Bass Player magazine recently raved that the 600 “scores big points for innovative design, luscious tone and roadworthy construction.”)

Now enter the new Scout cabinet. A double breakthrough in design, the Scout provides docking for the powerful WalkAbout. In minutes, with only a screw driver, you can convert the Walkabout from a head to an awesome featherweight combo.

And to magnify your booty, the Scout cabs boast a unique down-firing Passive Radiator. This low-end down-force amplifies the cabinet volume to produce shocking hugeness. And to keep it light, we use space-age neodymium speaker technology in both 12 and 15 inch Scout drivers.

Now, BETTER THAN EVER with Mesa's versatile Player Control™ Network featuring selectable 3-point crossover (3k / 4k / 5k), a premium Horn Attenuator & Instant Reset Horn Protection.

Small size. Huge sound. Unique flexibility. Hand-built quality: the WalkAbout Scout™ from Mesa/Boogie®. Thirty years of service, helping bass players world-wide.

I like the idea of a detachable headin a COMBO. That is way cool. I wish mine did that.

Every so often I get the urge to downsize to one of these, but have yet to pull the trigger. In reality I know it would be all that I would probably ever need at this point, but keep stumbling over the price. She is one sweet rig though.

I have the 12"-speaker version and wouldn't trade it for anything. One thing is for sure - when I sound bad, I certainly can't blame the amp.

      Ooh...why don't you give us a bit of a review, from a user's perspective?
