I really like that Lane. Can you tab that out for us? Very pretty and uses a lot of the neck, some thing I like to do when I go into a music store to check out a new bass or amp is lines like that.
Hey, y'all! Thanks so much for the interest. To answer....
1. Non-Black Bass - the bass in this video belonged to a student of Roy's. We were taping segments at Belmont wiht Roy's students, and at the end of the evening, someone said, "Hey, Lane's a bass player. He needs to play something."
Which brings me to...
2. Bass of the Hills - That's the song I played. This song is the first solo bass I ever wrote for myself. I wrote it back in 1996 in the Hill Country of Texas. Normally, it's in D, and I use a detuned E (down to pedal D) as the pedal tone. I had to do an instant transposition to A - not all that hard as it's still on a open string, if you know what I mean...
No, I don't have tab... but what I will do is create a video as soon as possible to look at what I'm doing, as well as how and why.
For now, let me point out that the scale (mode) on which this is based is simply a major scale with dominant (flat) seventh. This is also known as the Mixolydian Mode.
Again... thanks so much for the interest. I'll do the video as soon as I can...
Everybody who has a Facebook account...don't forget to click LIKE at the top of this post. Everybody should see this video of Lane playing Bass of the Hills!
