  • Norton's Wraith!

Thought I'd bring this one around for a second look. One of the most curious basses I've ever seen!

Say hello to Hugh Norton's Wraith Bass.

The Tube frame is our most advanced frame. It consists of machines T 6061 aluminum, augmented with radial wound carbon fiber tubes. The use and application of these two material produce a depth and clarity unequaled in other passive pickup instruments.

This frame allows the user to tilt the central assembly (bridge, neck, and pickups) 27º± (for comfort and user preference) and move the pickups to suit the player's taste and desired sound. The Tube frame basses are unlike any bass on the market.

The depth, power, articulation, and expressiveness of the instruments make them a true pleasure to play. The Tube frame is available on the Python, Merlin, Wraith, Mephisto, and Skel basses. It is also available on custom-order basses.

Designed and crafted in the USA by Hugh M. Norton.

Norton Mainframe Tube frame with radial wound carbon fiber tubes and machined anodized T 6061aircraft grade aluminum for extraordinary tone and sustain.

    - Neck/Mainframe® assembly locking tilt 27º± for individual preference.

Very interesting technology. Looks like the body wood is just along for the ride and to hold the tone controls. Couldn't see how the neck was attached to the tube frame system.

I wonder if anyone has made a full metal bass before?

It looks like it's all just bolted together, front and back.

Why would anyone want a guitar that has no demo of how they sound or play. If any one has video please post it.

It's not the best example of a bass showcase, but I found a video.

[QUOTE=Elmeaux;20417]It's not the best example of a bass showcase, but I found a video.

It would be so interesting to hear these instruments played in an acoustically friendly (Bassicaly friendly) environment.

I saw a Youtube vid of a Russian guy that made E guitars by welding steel junk together. But some great sounds! Sorry Elmeaux Did I posted this on the wrong line, but it's way past my bed time. Nite all!

I agree - if someone builds a bass, they oughta feature videos of the ax in action! Always!
