  • What's Affordable - Mid-Range Options

Cost always plays a factor when deciding on a new bass.

Take a look at these two mid-priced offerings. Each one sports a rather unique appearance to give the bassist that air of distinction, and neither comes with an overblown price tag!

First, the Italia Imola. The four string "Tobacco Sunburst" version off this bass sells in the range of $600.00 - $700.00 US. The sound-hole is standard on most Italia basses, but the Imola is the only model with the full-face pick guard. Very stylish and very retro.

Made from Hawaiian Korina Maple with a hard Maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, the Imola is described as producing a rich, deep sound. Alas, videos of the Imola in action seem impossible to find.

Second on our list is the Schecter Stargazer. Also selling in the $600.00 - $700.00 price range, this one's red colour scheme is called the Crimson Ghost! Her design closely resembles the Rickenbacker bass, but stays just different enough to keep people guessing.

I could easily go for either of these! I'm a sucker for distinctive looking basses and these two fit the bill.

I normally like a fine piece of woodgrain, but the Italian job does absolutely nothing for me, the Rick look-a-like on the other hand, I do like.

Italia basses are typically a love 'em or hate 'em deal. I've always enjoyed the unique look of all their axes. For me, it's a GAS factor of 7 on any Italia bass!
