  • And the Winner is...!

    #2. No Bass, No Beatles!

Your opinions (and suggestions) have been most deeply appreciated. And, unlike the government - which also appreciates opinions and suggestions - we're actually going to follow your advice. Meaning, "No Bass, No Beatles," modified slightly as you see here, will be appearing in the January issue of Bass Player Magazine.

Now, the gnomes had another idea. "What if TMBGers designed the ad?"

While I find it difficult not to suspect they're simply trying to get out of doing the work for which we underpay them, I must admit, it's a cool idea. So, how about it? What we're looking for is a sketch (you can do it on paper and scan it or do it in your favorite graphics program and scan/export as a .pdf.) with your idea for Headline, Body text, and Tagline as well as the graphics and/or photo you'd like to use. Don't worry, it doesn't have to be anything fancy. All entries have to be in by January 15th and will be posted on Thunder Row for members and visitors to vote on for two weeks. The winning ad will be turned over to the gnomes who will convert it to magazine-ready art.

Remember, the purpose of the ad is twofold: get folks to order TMBG or go to our website. And will the winner get a prize? Oh, yes. We'll have more about that later.

    Submit your entry to elmeaux@thelearningdock.com

Thanks, and have fun! We look forward to seeing what you come up with!
    David

I love it!! Send in your entries, Gang! If you don't want to draw or use a program, just send in a description.

      Maybe like...

"I see an ad that has a student in front of a TV screen, looking at a lesson, and a sort of ghost-image of Roy standing at his shoulder, helping him along..."

      That kind of thing...

Bassists are creative people! Let's see whatchoo got!

Not an idea for an ad but more supplementary.....

I think the home/order page should have video/commentary from actual people who bought the program with little to no experience and some info on how long they have been using the program and how they are doing. Quotes from known/famous bass players are nice but wouldn't influence my purchasing decision; seeing someone like me that never played before actually playing something is a great motivator.

I put more time into the program specifically because of some of the student videos that people posted in the forums by complete beginners to the instrument.

Great idea bassischill. So, how about it Elmeaux, can you handle video submissions for this, on top of all your other chores? If so, write it up and get the ROWers motivated!

Anybody who wants to feature a video of themselves playing a TMBG lesson can send me the link, or via Dropbox or anything else.

We'll make ya famous on the TMBG site!
