  • Happy Birthday, Jaco!

Today is John Francis "Jaco" Pastorius' birthday. He would be 63 years old today. Hard to believe this much time has gone by. Here is one of my favorite Jaco performances-sublime, melodic and heartbreaking in it's emotion. Who loves you, Jaco?

Check out his official website if you want to know more:

      Happy BDay, Jaco.

If you believe in forever, then life is just a one-night stand. If there's a rock n roll heaven, you know they got a helluva band.

On the evening of his death, i was living in NYC and there was a large gathering of musicians that converged on first and first - for some odd reason , i was the bassist for the memorial i say odd , as I didnt really "know" his tunes that well, of course i listened to him throughout his career and met him more than a few times, even named my dog after him. it was quite an evening.
