  • Leather Chaps And Curly Hair

Ahhh, the 80s. A time for mullets, MTV videos, and wooly-haired, snarly actin' Canadian songsters in black leather chaps.

It's a silly, 80s style video, but dang if the bass ain't killin' it.

I love that bass line, but I find the triplets tough to nail on the 5 string.
Perhaps if I tuned my 4 string the 1/2 step down and bounced off the open strings??
Does anyone one know who the cassist was on teh session?

That is a great tune. I have always liked the bass line on the Eurythmics song Cool Blue. You need a good stereo system to hear it properly. Dean Garcia was the bassist, and he flat tears it up!

@kimgee Wow. REally cool line I had not heard before. Br a while before I begin to attempt it, though.

@ Elmeaux thanks for the link. I should get in to the habit of using talk Bass as a resource more.

Brian, you should give a listen to Eurythmics' This is the House, as well. The bassist on that tune is Andy Brown.

Thanks again. There is, I think, some synth bass as well, but do you have any isea as to his signal chain?

No clue at all. I am not sure I could tell the difference between synth and a real bass guitar. I just know I like the way it sounds. But, being the Eurythmics, I am sure there is a lot of synth goin' on!

The studio recording of Black Velvet had some synth, but live performances used a real bass.
