  • Uploading MP3 Files - or How to Make Rocket Science Seem Like Child's Play, 101

Lots of folks have written to ask how they can upload MP3 files. Despite the prolixity that follows, the process is fairly self-explanatory. ; { )

Here it is: Go to whatever Forum category you're interested in and after the relevant thread hit the "Reply to Thread" button. (If it's a new topic, create a new Thread). In the "Your Message" window that appears, type in the headline: I.e. "My Incredible Version of Funky in the Phone Poles", then whatever text you wish to add. Then, scroll down to the "Manage Attachements" button below the text window. Click on this and a three-paned window will appear. Click the "Add Files" button in the upper right hand corner. This will open a small window, at the bottom of which is a "Select Files" button. Click that and a window will open that lets you access the MP3 file on your computer. Select the file you wish to upload and click open. This will send you back to the previous window which now has two more buttons at the bottom. Select the "Upload Files" button (the file has to be less than 15megs.) You will see upload status bars. When the file is uploaded, you will see icons representing the new file in the original 3 paned window, as well as in the "Attachments" section in the bottom of the window. At the lower right are two buttons, one of which is labeled "Insert Attachment." Click that.

That's step one. Now, in the text window where you typed your message, place the cursor a line or two below the text, then click on the paper clip icon just above the text window (to the right of the smiley face icon). You will see a little drop down menu labeled "Manage Attachments". Just below that text is a line of text representing your file. Click on that and a line of text will appear in your text window that says Attachment 000, then hit "Submit Reply" and that's all there is to it!
