It was very close this year, to say the least. We examined a well-rounded choice of albums that both fed the senses and filled the soul's absolute need for excellent music. Everything was so tasty this year that I almost couldn't choose between my list of finalists. In the end, my decision was based on the artist's venture into a new style and his complete success in the genre. The remainder of the albums most assuredly belong in your music library - there were no "losers" here. Not by a long shot.
This year, I am proud to award the Thunder Row Album Of The Year title to Vail Johnson for his collection, "The Seventh Son."
Johnson's foray into the world of Country music included covers as well as original compositions. His bass takes hold of that smooth Country playability and weaves it into something new and individual to his own emerging style. The covers are themed with the rich tradition of the genre, and infused with a flavour that confirms Johnson as a very versatile artist.
And let us not forget that the man has a voice that was born for Country music. His vocals on The Seventh Son went right to my heart and confirmed without a doubt that this genre is where Johnson will do very well.
Have a look at our review; you'll want to add this one to your collection.
