From our own Keiko Gutierrez:
Three weeks ago, I started my new weekly University radio show called "Out of the Bassment." It's a lot harder than I thought it would be, but I think I've finally worked out most of the technical kinks, and today I am happy to say there was no 'dead-air' at all. :-P
The show is in support of bass players and bass lovers, in that I only play music that features The Bass Player. Composed by... led by... sung by... or simply has an awesome bass line... (Inspired by Brian Bromberg's Bass On The Broadband.)
The show airs every Monday afternoon from 2:00-3:00 pm EST, on 93.3 FM (CFMU). This is McMaster University's public radio station which airs in Hamilton, Brantford, Burlington, and Oakville (Ontario, Canada).
The show is also streamed live here: http://cfmu.msumcmaster.ca
The bass players whose music I've played so far, include Alain Caron, Rich Brown, Jory Kinjo, Esperanza Spalding, Roy Vogt, Divinity Roxx, Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Adam Nitti, Jauqo III-X, Doug Johns, Marcus Miller, Stuart Hamm, Stanley Clark, Pino Palladino, Mark King, and Jaco Pastorius.
If you are a bass player (or bass lover), and have recorded music that meets the criteria above, and you would like to share it on the air, please send me a private message. I would love to support you.
Thank you!!
Congrats to Keiko!! Another impressive success.
