  • A Taste Of John Onder

Since we all enjoy featuring the music of our fellow bassists, we are PROUD to announce the following:

Bassist John Onder Releases Solo Debut

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - July 1, 2017

Long an underground legend among fans and fellow bass players, John Onder is finally releasing his solo debut, "Faith, Hope, Love, Passion, & Pain", on Startlingly Fresh Records. The all-instrumental set is a southern fusion extravaganza, reflecting the influence of regional predecessors Sea Level, the Dixie Dregs, Glenn Phillips Band, and the various backing ensembles for Col. Bruce Hampton.

Onder previously recorded with artists Michael Schenker, Joey Tafolla, Craig Erickson, Tony Spinner, and Artension. He’s proud to have worked with fellow session players Aynsley Dunbar, Michael Manring, and Deen Castronovo.

In addition to his performing and recording work, Onder teaches music classes, clinics and private lessons in Huntsville, Alabama. His musical interests run the gamut from southern fusion and metal to gospel, blues, and country.

John Onder composed the songs on Faith, Hope, Love, Passion, & Pain entirely on the bass, using a loop pedal to perform them solo in live venues. He and producer, Jim Cavender, then recruited some of Huntsville’s best players to record with him. John says of the album, “It was written and recorded during a tough period in my life, and the process really helped me. I'm proud of it.”

The entire album plus one of John's solo videos may be found in this playlist:

(NOTE: PLAYLIST APPEARS TO BE SET TO PLAY ONLY IN THE USA - probably because the playlist was prepared by CD Baby. We are talking to them about changing the setting)
