  • Washtub and Thunderbucket

We all love low notes. I dast say we NEED them.

The low registers are in our blood and our very hearts beat with the BOOM, BOOM, BOOM of bass rhythm.

In centuries past, orchestral viols and double basses (and octobasses ) were the instruments of classical music.

The working man's version is the washtub bass, to be enjoyed in down home
settings - usually accompanied by banjos and little brown jugs.

And then there's this guy, who plays the Thunderbucket - which is a combination of
a washtub style bass, upright bass, and a banjo. This one's got a body made from a bass drum.

    Gotta love innovation.

I think "dast" is a bit like "dare". My grandmother used to say that all the time - not that I'm comparing Elmeaux to a grandmother.

Yeah, pretty much like dare, but only in certain usages. "I dast say..." is good to go, but you wouldn't use "Dast I say..." There, I would use DARE. Dast is just a little more poetic.

Now get off my lawn, you little whippersnappers.

      Love, Nana.
