In Lesson 6 of TMBG, Roy offers up a session of great Blues shuffling, and the practice song that goes with it ("Shufflin' Along") is one of my faves to play, TMBG band or no band. It's just a jumping little number that was fun to learn. Play it slow and grinding, or fast and punchy, but play it with that Blues attitude!

When we advertise TMBG has "the most comprehensive, effective, and entertaining program of self-paced bass instruction on the planet," we're not blowin' smoke. TMBG has been out for two years now, and the first (that we know of) to finish all 20 lessons is Rev. Russell Shores. (We know a number of others are hot on his heels!) Granted, the Reverend has been playing professionally for a while, but he credits Roy and TMBG with helping him solidify his skills and his understanding of music. So, how's he doing? Hear for yourself!

My opinion? Well done Rev! You're an encouragement to us all!

Muting those ringing strings on a bass can involve palm or finger use...or a scrunchie? I did not know that wrapping a scrunchie over your frets could be a practical substitute for palm or finger muting.

But, apparently, the scrunchie is now OUT and the "FretWrap" is IN.
