just don't get it I guess

by MikeB on 06-05-2012 at 07:05 AM
so here we are, can do the 4x4 up and down the fretboard, getting some idea of where the notes are, even working the 4x4 starting with different fretting fingers each time, I still get totally lost when I have to do something as complex as play a note on one string then another note on the next string down/up.

Is this normal? Can I safely move to Lesson 2 and try to build this next step into that lesson? So many questions and so few clues.....

Well, sticking with things usually makes them work out. Been working the 4x4 all weekend, still have the occasional hiccup but overall not terribly horrible. I can do the 4x4 starting at the first fret and work my way down to the 15th fret, moving one fret at a time, tedious perhaps but I have to get my fingers moving!

started lesson 1 today. Having so much trouble with the coordination of fingers, muting, getting my fingers to manipulate on the wide frets, my middle finger just doesn't do that. Obviously I have much to learn and figure out. I am not used to being bad at stuff.

Tell me that it gets easier and that I will eventually get the 4x4s down and not feel like an uncoordinated oaf.

Back at it in an hour....

something curious and a serious newbie question

first - I have been reading on Thunder Row that knowing the fretboard is important before moving while i wait patiently ( not!!! ) for my TMBG delivery, I have been doing some fretboard reading and memberin'. It honestly isn't that difficult.

A curious thought though on music theory and notes and stuff. Why isn't there a sharp/flat between B and C and E and F? Since I am kinda new to theory, I found this very interesting and I am sure that there is some really interesting

51 years old, love bass and bass players.

Decided I needed to learn to play! Finally. Of course wife and kids make fun of me, but this is something I need to do.

Schecter Omen Extreme 4 - beautiful instrument. Sunday

TMBG - bought Monday... Why isn't it here yet?

Ready to go. Working on my stage name and outfits, all the important stuff

I'll be updating here, don't usually blog, but this will be fun and help me
