Hellooo?! Anyone home?

by jusca on 02-24-2016 at 02:04 AM
I haven't been here in so long. I've lurked but haven't signed on. Around November/December 2015, I had to make a decision of which hobbies I needed to put on a backburner so I could move forward in other more important areas of my life.

Bass practice was the first hobby to go. Drumming was next and I really cried about that one. I really need a hands-on teacher to make sense of bass and that's not a financial option for me at the moment. The teacher I did have for 2 months helped

What's Going On

by jusca on 10-01-2015 at 05:22 PM
I haven't updated in 2 weeks. What have I been doing? I haven't played bass at all. I'm researching various bass teachers. This monophonically played instrument confuses me so much. When it's played well, it's inspiring. I've come to realize I need live instruction as the dvds alone aren't helping me overcome some big questions I have and the ruts in my path.

Keeping my fingers crossed a few live lessons will help me move forward!

All I could see from the current and upcoming lessons is just scales upon scales without much explanation of why I was learning

It's been 1 MONTH! :D

by jusca on 09-11-2015 at 12:09 AM

1 month has gone by. And I'm saying adios to Lesson 2. I'm familiar with most of the flat major scales and will still work on the other flat and sharp scales over the coming weeks and months. I'm getting far too bored in this lesson & don't want to quit from boredom alone. I really need some musical things to reinforce what I'm learning because the scales I'm not using in a musical context don't settle in my long term memory. I'll figure something

Lesson 2: Creative Scale & Chord Tone Practice

Skip to 4:23 for the improv.

Time Flies By!

Can you believe it's only been 3 weeks since I started? It so feels much longer! And the reason it feels so much longer is because I've learned a lot of so far. Remember when I was confused about the I IV V? I totally missed that page while reading the pdf book, LOL. I even printed out that page. Somehow I still missed the concepts it was teaching
