    Roy,

I'm on lesson 9: Slap Bass. When I play the octaves after a few minutes my pinky starts to cramp and I can't play. It simply won't bend. Slap is my favorite style. Do you know of any exercise that will prevent this? Please help!!!

I started teach me bass guitar and I have trouble with the first lesson. I can't reach the frets properly for the 4X4 exercises. I have tiny hands, so I am using a 3/4 size bass guitar. I would like to know if there are any tips for stretching my ring finger and pinky to be able to reach the frets. Thank You. I love Black Metal, and I hope that with your teaching, I will eventually be able to play songs from my favorite bands Celtic Frost, and Darkthrone. Thank You!

    Hi Roy,

Got my TMBG not too long back but I'm having some issues with reading the music. You see, I can read from the staff and tab (using both together) but I was just wondering how I'd read from just the staff if, for instance, I got the music on short notice. Would I have to transcribe to Tabs and use both or am I meant to be able to read directly from just the staff?

    Thanks.
PS: I just finished Bach to Bass-ix in Lesson 4

    Hi Roy,

I'm working on the song called "Good Foot" in lesson 5. In measure twelve, there is a C#. I'm confused as to why. The song is in the key of E Major, if I'm not mistaken, and all C's are sharped. There is no natural C preceding it, so why is that C notated as sharp? In the same measure, there is also an F notated in the same way, as an F sharp with no F natural preceding it. I'm really confused on this, if you could help me out, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

Roy, I am currently working on TMBG DVD 2, Lesson 3 (mid-Neck Blues). Should I memorize the walking bass line? Is there a pattern I should have recognized? Thanks for the help.
  8. You Welcome, John!

Hey Roy things are still moving in a forward progress with the TMB series and swearing by it more with each lesson and disc. I used the band in the lesson two and added my bass in and created a great little ring tome for my cell phone that is getting lost of compliments. I tell everyone about your lessons and how it is even good for us old timers that need to refresh our knowledge. I just got a Ric 4003 mapleglo and a friend said this is a sign of true dedication and commitment for putting out that kind of money on a new Ric. its been 30 years since I had a Ric and they area distinct in sound. Hope all is well and would ask if you and the guys ever travel for gigs? maybe to Pensacola to play sometime? Thanks for all you do. your student John
  10. Unable to access your forum for a question on lesson one. Was told to email Ed but being new I have no idea who Ed is or what his email address is. Any advice is appreciated.

    Brian
