For me it's not so much the missing head (I'd love to have a Steinberger someday), just the overall balance of the Zon was not as nice as the Cort. Plus the Cort color was so lush.

And if you play with fingers rather than a pick, it just adds a nice depth to the music. It doesn't have to be blatantly screaming "I AM A 12 STRING BASS!!!!"
Just because. :)
Actually, I love me some 12 string bass something fierce. It's wonderful for fattening the texture of what I might be playing. I had one up until a few years ago (getting the...
Welcome aboard, bob!
Welcome aboard!
Welcome aboard!
Thank you! I'll talk my kid into shooting something. That's his realm, I'm too stooopid to operate his camera. :-) At the very least, some audio of it.
No chamber on this one, it's a solid body. But it is also fairly light - 8 pounds.
Six months now with it and I'm still happy. It's done well at gigs and is more potent than my other basses. It...
That's a pretty cool concept. Using an application to be your link to the world like that.
Happy birthday!
A pick?!?!??! You're going to make me work for this one, aren't you? :) Man, I haven't use a pick since 1984.
Seriously, that will be perfect the way you describe it. Pick on one, fingers on...
Disclaimer - don't listen to me. I don't know what I'm doing. ;)
Why oh why oh why did the Ibanez have to go with the star thingy on that beautiful white finish? Roscoe again for me.
Yep, I'll go with the Rick. Looking forward to this.
I'm all over the place on this. No one sound, so many different songs, even within a genre, and even the same sets on consecutive nights make me mix it up. Generally - not always - I'll run the...
Where's the "like" button? :D
I have read from the head of a particular guitar/bass manufacturer once that the issue arises when the tension is altered often and a lot. The example being described at the time was a 12 string...
I suppose taking diagonal cutters to all strings at once is probably not a good idea.
I have no scientific studies to back what I do. Just 30+ years of not having screwed up a bass yet (knock on wood). For regular changing, I do them one at a time. For a thorough cleaning or...
I trust this guy's knowledge about bass setups. He's over in a Rickenbacker forum and has never steered me wrong on his knowledge.

Sounds pretty darn close to me on the Rick!
I'm working on one on the Ebay, if you take requests. Two days, we'll know for sure. Think Pink. :)
I've had nightmares recently about something shaped like that Cort trying to kill me.
Roscoe.
Ain't it grand when things come together just right? :) Good job!
I think the loss of freedom is all in how the particular musician handles themselves. For every one that complains about losing their freedom, we can find another that manages to live their life as...
