Thread: My First Attempt At Recording Myself!!!

Default My First Attempt At Recording Myself!!!

OK, I finally got up enough nerve to post an audio of me playing the bass. Yep, it took awhile but I finally decided to post this audio of MY version of the Chicago Blues Boogie. It is only a little over a minute but maybe those that are willing to critique my playing will help me to improve. As for a video, that's down the road. Way down the road.

Very nicely done, indeed!! I play that line in a few of my practice sessions. I'd say yours is better than mine - mine can still sound clunky.

May I ask why you chose to leave the last note off on the turnaround - the 12th bar? Gives it in interesting touch. Pretty cool.

This is great. Keep 'em coming!

    Default Walkin' them Strings!

Well done, SF. Pretty good timing, nice clear tones. Now try hitting each note twice, great right hand exercise. That's head-boppin' music!
    Good job,

    Default Thanks!!!

Thanks for all the kind remarks. I guess I'll just keep doing what I've been doing and having fun. I'm going to take Ed's suggestion and try hitting each note twice and see how that comes out. I had been away from my TMBG Lessons for about three months while I worked on my sight reading. Now I'm ready to get back to the TMBG Lessons starting with Lesson 5. Thanks again everyone for your encouragement!!!

I played both ways, with and without the note, and I just liked it better leaving the last note off because it sounded better to me. I also tried playing it with other notes added, removed or in a different arrangement but the way I recorded it sounded the best to my ear!!
