    I think "dast" is a bit like "dare". My grandmother used to say that all the time - not that I'm comparing Elmeaux to a grandmother.

    Yeah, pretty much like dare, but only in certain usages. "I dast say..." is good to go, but you wouldn't use "Dast I say..." There, I would use DARE. Dast is just a little more poetic.
