We've lost another bass legend. Donald Duck Dunn of Booker and the MGs fame has passed away at 70. "Sittin on the Dock of the Bay", Blues Bros movie, etc, etc, etc. . . . .

He leaves behind a remarkable history of great tuneage. His best line from The Blues Brothers movie:
"We got a band powerful enough to turn goat p---- into gasoline!"
- low life -
Even Jon Belushi said, during a live performance of the "Blues Brothers" ...."and The Wolds Greatest Bass player, Donald DUCK Dunn" and he bowed to him.
Nothing like a Great Bottom end!
I was saddened to hear of this news. My brother, whom I rarely talk to, sms'd me to let me know. We both grew up with the the Blues Brothers (the 3 released albums), and later became Booker T fans.
Another rare talent has passed, and it's definitely time to dust off some of my CD collection and appreciate the legacy that Duck Dunn left behind.
Thanks for the awesome tunes, and R.I.P.
WOW!! It seems like I haven't heard this one in like forever but its not been that long but pretty long!!

HE was on my top list of bass players . i remember hearing booker t and the mgs doing green onions. and he blew me away . i still love that song and b t m g s and DONALD DUCK DUNN HIS MUSIC WILL LIVE FOR EVER.
Let's Play Bass!
I remember Hang 'em High with Booker T and the MGs, but I expect that song is known by most because of the exposure in the movie.
