    Cannot go wrong with the Fender P! It has been an industry standard since....... well since there was a standard!

    Hi First. You cannot keep a new bass with a broken nut, and if you attempt to the seller will possibly claim you broke it. So it has to go back quick!
    Second, I am not sure how you can stop other strings ringing out unless you mute them! I'm sure you cannot! unless your really really soft! But then you cannot play at all! No matter how low or high your action is, they will ring I'm sure! hope to hear from you!
