Thread: Skin DEEP - Purple Out!

Default Skin DEEP - Purple Out!

Well that monarchy didn't reign for long. So much for the purple Spector.

Our new champ is the gorgeous GV XBS 534 bass. Not much of a name, hey? I mean, for such a tasty bass.

She's a 34 inch scale with gotoh machine heads, Schaller bridge, and a chrome plated brass nut. 24 frets on an ebony fretboard.

Her body (wings) is seven layers of Walnut, Mahogany, and either European Maple or Cherrywood. The finish is called Satin Natural.

The neck-thru is made of five layers of Canadian Maple and/or Cherrywood. A real looker with clean lines and a sleek design!!

This was an easier choice than last time. I choose the XBS for the beautifully stained wood.

Not to be picky about this, but according to the original description, the XBS body is padauk which is naturally that color. It's got some sort of finish on it, but I don't believe that it is stained. Padauk has a nice color, but over time it will turn a sort of dull dark brown. It's pretty now, but ... (I'm a wood guy in one of my other lives.)

I don't like padauk, so my vote won't be going to the XBS. I'm going with the Notorious!

I didn't realize it was padauk. Maybe that is why I like it. It is the same as my Ibanez.

Still likin' that body wood on the "GV XBS 534" (they gotta find a better name for that bass) bass. Now if it was fretless as well!!!!!!
