Thread: Skin DEEP - Crown Is Retained!

  1. #1

Default Skin DEEP - Crown Is Retained!

The GV XBS 534 Bass really took a bite out of the Nardelli Notorius Fretless Bass! With a final score of 7-4, the champ defends her crown for another week.

Now I might be pushing this week's competitor waaaay out on a limb here, but we've seen some interest expressed in this bass from people viewing Keiko's NAMM pix, so, what the heck, eh? Let's give her a day in court, and if she loses, let it never be said it was for lack of trying!

This is the Atom 3D bass, designed by Olaf Diegel for Cubify 3D Designs. We don't have too much info on her composition, but this is from the Cubify website:

Amazing pickups from Seymour Duncan and sustainable wood choices for the neck and fretboard (in maple, mahogany, and rosewood) ensure gorgeous tones.

Since Skin DEEP is a game of looks, what more do we really need?

Introducing the Olaf Diegel Atom 3D bass.

Does this unusual, but extremely interesting bass stand a chance against the GV, which her beautiful finish and classic styling?

Yikes! So the love initially shown for this bass from NAMM was only a pretty little ship that passed people's wakes in the middle of the night... or however that stupid saying goes...

I LIKE the Atom! It's weird, and that's kinda cool.

Edit: LOL! I'm the only vote! What can I say, I love an underdog!

Alright, alright. It looks like the voters are ganging up on the Atom... except Nicki (wtg).

I'll see about pulling down the poll later on and putting up something new.

I don't particularly like the looks of this bass (which is what the contest is about), but I think that the 3D printing technology certainly opens up some interesting possibilities for instrument building. I don't see them appealing to those who want a vintage pre-CBS Fender or anything, but...
