Thread: Skin DEEP 2014 - Luthman Lady 5 Takes Fender

  1. #1

Default Skin DEEP 2014 - Luthman Lady 5 Takes Fender

Seriously, I thought the Fender would have been secure on the top of the mountain for AT LEAST a couple more weeks! But, as it turned out, the Luthman Lady M 5-String Bass was just purty enough to boot the Dimension bass off the top of the heap! The final score was 7-5 for the Lady, and so, she takes her place on the throne.

So, this shiny Luthman is ready to face her first contender as Champ. I know all you Thunder Row people appreciate a good slab of wood - often, it's a simple thing, like the finish, or the body shape, that will make or break a winner's status.

This week, we have a delightful bass with a natural oil finish. Compared to that glossy sheen of the Luthman, this bass has a much more down to earth look.

Meet The Warwick Thumb 5 String Bass.

The Warwick is a fine bass and a nice slab of wood, but I've never really liked the stubby horns on the Warwick Thumbass (even though it is a 5'r). Gotta go with the Lady again.

I voted for the Lady M last round because of the beautiful wood and finish. I never liked the pup covers and knobs. This round will go to the Warwick for its understated simplicity and clean look.

I've never seen a Warwick I liked, and the Thumb is my least favorite. Lady for me.
