    Default Tab Software

Hey everyone! I didn't know exactly where to post this, but if you are interested in a software program that you can use to write notation and/or tab, PreSonus is having a one day sale today. Their Notion brand software product "Progression" is only $5 today. I have not used it and cannot vouch for it's usefulness, but for $5 it is worth a look.

It's a download. I've downloaded it but haven't tried it yet.

For those of you that missed this sale, do not despair! Finale NotePad is a free download that will allow you to write music in notation and/or tab. I used it to write out the notation and tab for "Funky in the Phone Poles" from lesson 7 and it has been really helpful. I know that you are wondering why I would want to do that since the notation and tab are in the lesson book and the slowed down play-along tutorial is on the DVD (and available as an MP3). Well, here's the thing; once you have written out the notation/tab in NotePad, you can play it back at any speed that you want. So, basically, you end up with an isolated bass track that you can play along with at the tutorial speed and then slowly increment up to performance speed. The tone of the playback isn't great, but the timing is precise so it is easy to get it into your head (and under your fingers). The URL for the Finale website is below if you are interested.

I often do charts for our worship band and find that subsequently transposing when the singer can't/won't do it in the original key, is a pain.

Downloaded and going to give it a try.
