Good morning, Kimgee
I am sorry for the delay in responding to your post.
I suspect that both the "poly" and "satin" finishes to which you refer are polyurethane finishes. That said, I agree the the satin finish neck bass that I have feels faster that the gloss finished one. I came across a vido by an Italian luthiere in wich he sugested 'satinizing" (my word not his) the gloss neck. He showed doing this by taping off the area to be changed with low tack painters pate, and then gently rubbing the neck with 4-o steel wool to achieve a satin feel. I have not tried this, but I did use it on the satin finished neck, because with playing I found that there was a shine, or gloss that had developed. I regularly wipe the neck down after each session and occasionally use a few drops of naptha on a cloth, but the shine still developed. The result was a rapid return to the new satin feel I liked.
The following are a couple of articles on tung oil which I think answer your question.

By the way, did you ever solve the neck issue with your new Kinal??

I am going for the classic P split pickup tone. The pickup is a split side by side in one pickup frame. Most like this are stacked. the pickup is a 51P4S.

Lookin' good! The body wood reminds me of my 72 Fender P Bass.

Nice. That is waaaaay better than the GRTB decal. I am anxious to hear your opinion of the guitar after you get to play it a bit.
