Thread: Skin DEEP 2015 - Bass On Bass Action

  1. #1

Default Skin DEEP 2015 - Bass On Bass Action

Hard to imagine an Ibanez being trounced so soundly. They are usually very high-ranking and loved by all who play Skin DEEP. But, I guess if you're going to take a hide thrashing, it might as well be by a purty ESP.

7 - 2 for the ESP RB-1004 Bass over the Ibanez Talman TMB300 Bass and our champ goes crawling off into the shadows.

Sooo, this week, we have a Member's Special to face the ESP. This TMBG Student's bass is the Crackercaster 456. Made by Guitar Repair of Tampa Bay.

Knobs: Shotgun shell base knobs. Take a good look at these close-up. These shotgun shell knobs are pretty much the coolest thing about the face of this bass!!
    Controls: Volume, tone
    Bridge: Wilkinson Retro
    Hardware: Nickel
Finish: Hand-rubbed, Gun stock oil finish neck, Nitro satin lacquer body

This is a very unique and stylish bass all around! But does she have enough going for her to unseat the ESP RB-1004 Bass?

The ESP is an attractive bass. That said, i have a dislike for the P/J pickup combination. The Crackercaster is such a unique instrument, it gets my vote.

I suspect that "some of us" at "one point or another" in our lives, have been accused of that

Yep, some times I feel like I'm a two head monster like this week. I'm ready to go back to work. Mardi gras in New Orleans is not for me.
I'll wait and vote when I'm more head strong thinking of heads.

I evened it up. Personally, the tele body style doesn't work well for me as a bass, although the crackercaster is a great example of that sort of thing done well.
