Default Is there a useful musician's association?

Hey guys/gals, I have been thinking about this topic lately (and went into research mode) and wondered if anyone here has any experience with any of the existing organizations claiming to serve musicians. There are offers of insurance, pension plans, etc. If they are anything like AARP, they are just marketing companies out to make a profit off of their "members" and exist only to help themselves. Anyone have any knowledge of the organizations I have linked below? I would like to determine what their actual purpose is and who they really serve, as in musicians or their own investors. Please post your stories, opinions, or whatever. Thanks in advance.

Those are all the relevant orgs that I could find quickly, but I stumbled across this useful resource page with all kinds of useful stuff and thought I would share:

I wish I knew more, but I'm a little out of the loop on US organisations for musicians. I know they exist though... ones that really DO help.
