Thread: Hello from Port Hope Ontario

  1. Default Hello from Port Hope Ontario

Just picked up this teaching program.
    My name is Glen.
Started playing bass about 10 or 12 weeks ago.
Signed up with a teacher and he taught me scales and modes.
I learned a few tunes from the Internet.
I felt my teacher, although a great guy, was not structured in any way.
It seemed he was just thinking off the top of his head when I got to the lesson.
I discovered the existence of this course on Talk Bass.
Quit my lessons and purchased the set.
    Very impressed so far.
The first two lessons came easy to me, although I definitely picked up a few new things and also had a couple things made more clear to me.
The second half of lesson three, a bit challenging.
Having a bit harder time jamming with band on this one.
    But
I have just about got it.
Looking forward to participating on this forum and completing the lessons ....at some point.
    Glen

    Welcome to TMBG gkella!

A ton of stuff to be learned in the course. Make sure you have one lesson well under your belt before you start the next one. The material builds on what you already can do, and you can find yourself well behind the proverbial "8 ball" if you move ahead before you've got the material in hand.

Got questions? Feel free to ask them here and we'll do our best to get you back on track.

Did you get the hard cover materials book as well? Makes covering the lesson material a bit easier than just following on the computer.

I did not get the book.
How can I get my hands on the book?
I was going to take disc five with PDF and make a copy.
The hard cover would certainly be my preference.
    Thanks Glen

I believe that you can order the hard copy from the TMBG site. There are a LOT of pages to print if you do it from the disc!

The bound version has a coil binding that lays flat and is easy to use.

Perhaps Elmeaux will be along soon to provide more definitive directions.

I have offered Glen the updated digital version, but if he wants the hard copy, I can hook him up with that!

There is that advantage to the digital version. It has corrected some of the errors in the original hard copy (but they were certainly not "fatal" errors )
